What can I expect at my initial appointment?

What happens as a new patient at my first visit?
We will start out by sending you a welcome pack; in it you will find a medical history form (download below). Please complete the form at home and be sure to include any medication you are taking. eMail/Mail/fax or bring the form to your appointment. When you arrive, we'll spend some time with you before Dr. Birnbach looks at your teeth , so we can discuss your concerns and desires. Then Dr. Birnbach will carefully examine your mouth, teeth and gums and address any other conditions you are concerned about. Dr. Birnbach may need to take an x-ray scan of your jaw/mouth/teeth. We allow at least one hour for an initial exam. Once we know exactly what is needed, we will book an appointment for any treatment that is necessary. I estimate the appointment will cost between $110. and $400. depending on whether or not x-rays and study models are necessary.

Why will the exam take an hour?
Dr. Birnbach spends an hour with each new patient so that he can carefully consider all the options and then make sure patients are aware of all of their choices. He never tells people what they must do; rather he explains things in depth so the patient can make an informed decision for themselves.
